What Would a 10 Out of 10 Childhood Actually Look Like?
Your child is awake about fifteen hours a day. Roughly half of them belong to someone else.
Every year we throw a Welcome Back Potluck for our community. This year we're opening it to twenty local families we haven't met yet. Come spend two hours on a Friday evening with a room full of families who are finally asking what they'd design instead. Bring the kids. They're the reason we're all here.
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 4 · 5:30 TO 7:30 PM · WONDERSTORM ACADEMY · LAGUNA HILLS
25332 McIntyre St · Laguna Hills, CA 92653
FREE · KIDS WELCOME · NO PRESENTATION, NO PITCH
Takes about twenty seconds. Twenty families. That's the whole guest list.
There's Something So Many of Us Share
Family life gets full quickly. And somewhere along the way, many of our days begin to take shape without us ever really choosing what we want them to look like.
School schedules, work schedules, activities, and responsibilities naturally begin shaping the rhythm of our days.
We bring pieces of how we were raised into our own families, keeping what we loved and trying to do some things differently.
And the evenings can disappear so quickly. Homework. Dinner. Dishes. Screens. Bed. Then somehow, we're doing it all again.
And none of this means we're doing anything wrong. It's simply the reality so many families share.
But what if we gave ourselves permission to pause long enough to ask what we actually want? Not because our families need fixing, but because these years matter. What if we could be more intentional about creating a family life and childhood we genuinely love?
We put so much thought into the lives we're building. Maybe our family life deserves that same kind of intention.
And maybe we don't have to figure it out alone.
There are other families asking these questions too. Families trying new things, sharing what works, learning from one another, and building lives that feel more connected and intentional.
Come find your people. Come explore what's possible together.
Now Do the Math on School
Back to those fifteen waking hours. Roughly half of them belong to school.
Not to you. Not to their curiosity. Not to the thing they would stay up too late doing if nobody made them stop.
Whatever happens inside those hours is quietly writing what your child believes is possible for them. The ceiling they'll accept without arguing. How much permission they'll feel to go build a life of their own design.
Seven hours a day. Five days a week. Thirteen years.
That isn't a subject. That's a childhood.

Kids calibrate to the families around them, and to whoever they spend their days with.
Which is exactly why school isn't a separate question from family.
It's the same question, wearing a different outfit.
So we're getting some families together around two questions. That's the entire agenda.
What would a 10 out of 10 family experience look and feel like if you had no restrictions in creating it?
What would a 10 out of 10 education look and feel like for your child if there were no restrictions in creating it?
Then we get specific about what it actually takes to create both.
Come As You Are.
Join In As Much As You'd Like.
This is our annual Welcome Back Potluck, and we're opening the doors to families who are curious about Wonderstorm and the kind of community we're building.
There's no formal presentation or agenda to sit through.
This is a real Wonderstorm gathering.
Come eat with us, meet our families and Guides, let your kids jump into the fun, and ask anything you're genuinely curious about.
If you'd like to bring a favorite dish, side, or dessert to share, we'd love that. There's something special about everyone contributing a little something to the table.
But please don't let that become one more thing on your list.
Come empty-handed if that makes your evening easier. There will be plenty of food.
Expect good conversation, kids playing, families connecting, ideas being exchanged, and plenty of room to imagine out loud with people who are asking some of the same questions you are.
No need to arrive knowing anyone. No need to have anything figured out. Just come spend the evening with us.
This Gathering Might Be for Your Family If
You're genuinely happy with your family, and you still suspect life could feel more intentional than it does.
Something about school isn't quite fitting your child, and you can't fully explain it yet.
You're homeschooling and you're hungry for more community.
You're curious about what else is possible in education, without being ready to do anything about it.
You want your kids growing up around interesting, thoughtful families.
Or you just love the idea of building an extraordinary childhood on purpose instead of by accident.
None of us has family life completely figured out. That's kind of the point.
We're bringing together people who care deeply about the same things, are willing to ask meaningful questions, and believe we can learn a lot from one another.
Come with your questions. Come with your ideas. Come find people worth figuring it out with.
"Wait. Who's Hosting This?"
Fair question, and worth answering plainly.
Wonderstorm Academy is a learning center in Laguna Hills for ages 5 to 18, built on a belief that education should develop the whole human being. Not just capable students. Capable thinkers, communicators, leaders, and creators, with a real sense of what they're for.
Here's our reason for hosting, stated plainly so you don't have to wonder about it: this is our annual Welcome Back Potluck, a tradition that predates this invitation. We're opening it to twenty local families we haven't met yet because the families we most want to know are the families already asking these questions. Gathering them in one room is genuinely the whole agenda. Nobody is going to pitch you, follow you to your car, or put you in a funnel.
If you get curious about what we do here, ask us. If you don't, we'll be glad you came anyway.

Learn to Lead.
